A Delaware Christmas: Christmas at Winterthur

Before boarding our individual flights to Utah (except for Baby Hannah, she stuck with me) we celebrated our own Christmas in Delaware.  What a celebration it was!  The Saturday before my flight, we visited the Winterthur Yuletide celebration.  Yes, they let us bring Baby Hannah with us on the tour this time.  Yes, it was like celebrating Christmas at Downton Abbey.  Here are some of my favorites (for some reason, there were probably three or four dining rooms.  I would not be as skinny as the Crawley sisters if I lived the lifestyle they did...)

We learned about service a la francaise (where you serve yourself) and a la Rousse (where a servant serves you one course at a time*).  We also saw the largest free-standing staircase in America (below right) and hand-painted Chinese wallpaper.  The owner did not want to cut the paper and so had the walls extended instead.
*as they do in Downton Abbey.  Are we obsessed? Yes, yes we are.

We also saw a tree made entirely of real, dried flowers (above left) as well as other incredible decorations.
